Sky Box, Sky Plus Box and Sky Plus HD Box – what is the difference?

Signing up for Sky TV? Once you’ve chosen your Sky TV packs (entertainment packs, premium movie pack and / or premium sports pack) it’s not over! You still have to choose your Sky Box.

There are three Sky Boxes to choose from: The Standard Sky Box, the revolutionary Sky+ Box, and the amazing Sky+ HD Box. But what is the difference between the three Sky Boxes?

Standard Sky Box

The Standard Sky Box is a straightforward digital receiver so you can receive your Sky TV channels. You can also use the onscreen Sky Guide and parental controls. The Standard Sky box is FREE  for the first box to new customers signing up to Sky TV.

Sky Plus Box

The Sky Plus Box has a whole range of great features. It has the benefits of the Standard Sky Box – plus lots more. Record 40 hours of standard definition programming. Pause, record and rewind live TV – you can also remote record from your mobile phone or via the Sky website (you have to register for this facility). Record some series in one go thanks to Series Link. And you can use Sky Anytime to view lots of hidden TV gems from the week. The Sky Plus Box is only £99 for your first Sky Plus Box.

Sky Plus HD Box

With the Sky Plus HD Box you get all the functionality of the Sky Plus Box plus a bit more… You can record up to 80 hours of standard definition TV or up to 30 hours of HD (high definition) TV programmes. The Sky Plus HD Box is £99 for your first Sky Plus HD Box (for existing Sky Plus HD customers, another box costs £199). Please note, with the Sky Plus HD Box you also have to take out a subscription to the Sky HD pack for £10 a month.
